It has long been both a celebration and a way of helping expecting mothers out. Baby showers can differ in many ways. In some cultures, for example in Jewish tradition, celebrations for a baby are only held after the birth. On some rare occasions, the men get a baby shower as well. More common is to allow men to attend a baby shower, traditionally a women only event.
