The facility is so called since it is the whims and fancies of the tenants who decide what use the place is to be put. The technical implication of it is that in self storage the legal possession of the stored goods is with the one who takes the space on rent. However where the right to lien comes into play, the master of the facility may exercise possessor's rights on the goods stored. Lien is a right in law of the custodian of goods who can detain them in the case of non payment of his charges.
